Shannon L. Barnard, 77, of Burt Hill Road, Passed away unexpectedly Sunday (Aug. 20, 2023) at his home. Born in the Town of Canisteo, January 30, 1946, he was the son of Jesse and Lulu Converse Barnard. He had resided his entire life in the Canisteo area.
Shannon was employed for 40 years for the Erie, Erie Lakawanna, Conrail and finally the Norfolk-Southern Rail Road.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers, Shearl and Arthur Barnard.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria Woodworth Barnard, his daughters, Shawn Barnard of Canisteo and Shannon (Michael) Sit of Pennsylvania, his sisters, Ann Baxter of Dundee, Nancy Bacon of Cameron and Paula Coots of Avon, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The family observed a private visitation and funeral service on Wednesday with Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating. Burial followed in Hillside Cemetery in Canisteo.
Shannon’s family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Canisteo Ambulance Corp. and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Dept. for the compassionate care given to them during this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that those wishing, make a contribution to the Canisteo Fire Department or Ambulance Corp. in Shannon’s memory.
