Robert J. Stephens, 88 of County Rte 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday (December 29, 2022) at Elderwood Nursing Home.
He was born on March 15, 1934 in Hornell, NY the son of John Stephens and Mary Kernan Stephens. Bob had served in the US Marine Corps from 1953-1957 and the National Guard for many more years. He had also been employed at the Hornell Armory in the maintenance department for many years. Bob was a member Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St Ann Church in Hornell, and was a member of Hornell VFW, and the American Legion in Hornell.
He was predeceased by his parents his brothers Harold, John, and James Stephens, 2 sisters Elizabeth Trenkler, Mary Eleanor Kulikowski, a step brother Leland Moore, 3 step sisters Lenora Rothe, Eunice Graber and Mary Eaton.
He is survived by his wife Lois Heers Stephens, his son James (Carol) Stephens of PA, a daughter Roberta (John) Scott of WA, 2 step sons Thomas (Kathy) Hall of Cheektowaga, Kenneth Hall, a step daughter Patricia (James) Soper of Bath, and his sister Helen (Wayne) Kidd of Fairport, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with full military honors at the Bath National Cemetery on Wednesday (April 5, 2023) at 2:00 PM.
