Mabel Beers, 95, of Canisteo, New York passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
Mabel was born on August 13th, 1927. She married her late husband, Gerald, in 1949. During their 52 years of marriage, they raised 3 children, Jack, Dawn, and Debra.
Mabel was a telephone operator for New York Telephone for 32 years. Throughout her life, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a woman of great faith. She prayed every night for each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved her dogs and all the furry friends of the family.
She enjoyed spending winters in Haines City, Florida, and summers at Smith Pond, where she and her husband built and owned a cottage for many years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Red Hat Society.
Her legacy is one of love and devotion to her family, who were the greatest source of pride and joy in her life. She has left her family with many memories of family gatherings and traditions, as she made every holiday so special.
Her loving, spunky personality will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Mabel is survived by one brother, Robert VanValkenburg of Rochester, NY; two sisters, Sally Premo of Atlanta, GA, and Susan (James) Lill of Rochester, NY; three children, Jack (Marcia) Beers of Canisteo, NY, Dawn (Gordon) Ichikawa of Canisteo, NY, and Debra (Robert) Dineen of Wallkill, NY; nine grandchildren, Brandon (Rachelle) Beers, Ryan (Hannah) Beers, Kristin (Jeremy) Palotti, Kara (Dave) Jiusto, Brad (Jen) Burd, Kalee (Laird) Updyke, Katie Dineen, Megan Dineen, and Linzy Dineen; and 19 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday (Nov. 13, 2022) at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street in Canisteo from 1 PM until 2PM where a memorial service will follow calling hours at 2 PM. Fr. Thomas Gramley will officiate.
