Gerald L. Olin Sr.
Gerald L. Olin Sr., 81 of County Route 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday (Aug, 3, 2022) at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Hornell, July 28, 1941, he was the son of Fred and Della Silsbee Olin. He had been a life long resident of Hornell. He was a graduate of Alfred Almond Central School and retired as a machine operator-mechanic for the Town of Hornellsville, after 38 years of service.
He was a member of the Hornell VFW, the Almond Historical Society and an active supporter of the Alfred Almond Central School Alumni Association. One of Gerald’s passions was restoring antique cars and antique Allis Chalmers Tractors. Being raised on a farm, Gerald enjoyed farming and passed his passion down to his son and great grandson. Gerald had a great love for animals and throughout his life owned many dogs and cats.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Fred, Ronald and William Olin, and great grandson, Dustin Olin Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Beverly Olin who enjoyed many loving years together, many adventurous trips together across the country and the joy raising their family. Also surviving are his sons, Michael (Leonie) Olin of California and Gerald (Debi) Olin Jr. of Hornell and his daughter; Linda (Ron) Yates of South Carolina as well as, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell on Sunday (Aug.7, 2022) from 5 until 7 PM and on Monday from 9 AM until 11 AM. A funeral service will follow calling hours on Monday at 11 AM with Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
