Condolence From: Eugene Mehlenbacher
Condolence: In times like this there is no good place to start as there is no good place to end. Betty was as good an Aunt as a nephew could wish for and the best sister Eugene, Charles, Gordon, Dean and Vance could have had. But as she has informed me on more than one occasion -"Nice try Eugene, I'm also the only sister". And so it has gone for all my years with Aunt Betty. She was always there, always with a laugh and a smile, and the best kind of 'stern' to teach a growing boy/man what's right. I remember vividly the sights and sounds of those wonderful Holiday get togethers at 'Grandme's' house. Men picking good-naturedly at each other, ladies taking care of details and kids in the way everywhere. I have distinct memories of each aunt, uncle, niece and nephew. But amid the calculated chaos of Mehlenbacher family gatherings, there was a distinct laughter that punctuated the air. As a youngster back then, it was instantly recognizable as Aunt Betty - not only of merriment but now, all these years later, a feeling that all is right in this house at this time. In today's world, it could even be felt as one of security. There are many things I am grateful to Betty for but these are the things I cherish most. I hope all children have a family and an Aunt Betty to give them memories such as these.

Condolence: I'm so sorry for your loss. Betty was a great woman, I knew her from Camp Gorton. My great aunt Helen & great uncle Bill Howland ran the Boy Scout Camp and Betty was always there to help out. She never ran out of energy, never said no to helping out where ever she could and obviously left quite an impression on me as I last saw Betty before we moved to Florida, the summer of 1979. Thank you Betty for being the amazing person you were, the mold was definitely broken when god made you. Rest in peace.

Condolence: I was very saddened when I heard the news. May all your warm memories help you through this difficult time. What a legacy she left for the community. There is no doubt she will be missed and the void for the community will be difficult to fill. Remember, you no longer have to pray for can now pray to her. I wish I could be there to give you all hugs and talk about all the great memories. Consider yourself ((hugged)) and know I am there is spirit and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: I send my support, love, and prayers to all who know Betty and mourn with us through this difficult time.

We are all blessed to have had Betty Hess in our life for as long as we have. She was a tremendous parent, grandparent, great grandparent, aunt, sibling, daughter, wife, and citizen of the world. She spoke through her selfless actions and her character represented all that is good in the world. If you ever doubt the good in humanity you could look at the example Betty Hess set and find hope again.

I'll never forgot her taking care of the grandchildren when we were sick. Celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve, and Easter. Events full of her sugar cookies and macaroni and cheese.

She always had a ton of heart, a great sense of humor, bright wit, and a beautiful smile. She was very supportive of all of us. Her love will live forever because we can not help but share what she has taught us about love with the world.

To my greatest role model, my grandmother, Betty Hess, I will love you forever.
